Emails were built in the 90s, and they haven’t evolved as much as websites. Designing for emails is trickier and limited, so we’ve put together a quick infographic to help you start off on the right foot.

When working with other designers, the initial temptation is to make the emails image heavy, with beautiful artwork. Our biggest piece of advice is be careful with this approach! Many people don’t download images, email clients will see this as spam/promotion material, and you may miss the inbox. Keep in consideration how you can make buttons appear outside of images so they are always seen, and we’ve got more tips in our infographic!

Once you’ve got the hang of these steps, take your email to the next level by checking dark mode and perhaps trying some different emailing platforms if things aren’t hitting the mark.

Then go for it! Test your email, hit send, and then breathe a sigh of relief before you get going on the next.
