Does Your Business Qualify?

Like any government initiative, there are certain eligibility criteria. For the Canada Digital Adoption Program - Stream 1 Grow Your Online Sales grant,

Your business should:

  • Operate on a for-profit basis (this includes for-profit social enterprises and co-operatives)
  • Be registered or incorporated
  • Be consumer-oriented (i.e., sell goods and services directly to end consumers)
  • Employ at least one individual (excluding the owner) OR have generated a minimum of $30,000 in annual revenue in the most recent tax year
  • Commit to implementing a digital adoption strategy for a period of six months
  • Be open to participating in follow-up surveys, sharing data about the experience, and having your name disclosed as a grant recipient
  • Have between 1 and 499 full-time equivalent employees (part-time employees are pro-rated)
  • Are a Canadian privately-owned, for-profit business.
  • Are incorporated federally or provincially, or are a sole-proprietor with a Canadian-resident owner.

Documents to Prepare

If that sounds like you, then there are several documents you should prepare for your application:

  • All legal details about your business: This includes the name, contact information, structure, years of operation, and your NAICS code.
  • Your business registration number and articles of incorporation, or if applicable, your Sole Proprietorship Registration Statement or Partnership Registration Statement.

Naturally, there are certain guidelines to follow. For example, hardware expenses can only constitute up to 20% of the total cost, and social media advertising expenditure cannot account for the entire $2,400.
